These are photos of the 2008 Vancouver LGTB Pride Parade. It was a major success, beautiful weather, great crowds, around 500,000 people! The Vancouver Pride Parade has grown every year and is still growing. A million spectators is just around the corner.

Vancouver is a dog mad city! We have a couple of furry family members ourselves. Sophie our pug and Mykey our Shih Tzu Maltese. We also have a cat, Jag our beautiful Bengal.

2008 HSBC Celebration of LightEvery year in Vancouver we are fortunate to have this fabulous free public event staged over four nights, thrilling an estimated annual attendance of 1.4 million people. The HSBC Celebration of Light is a pyro-musical fireworks competition that brings the world's best fireworks designers to Vancouver's English Bay to compete for this world title.

This year competitors are:
Wednesday, July 23 Canada with the theme: Godzilla
Saturday, July 26 USA with the theme: Love Will Change the World
Wednesday, July 30 China with the theme: Power of the Dream
Saturday Aug 2 Gran Finale, the winner is announced

2008 Triathlon World ChampionshipsPictures of the Men's Elite, Women's Elite, Men's Under 23, & Another group who'd class we did not catch.... Some great photos, especially of the Elite Men's & Women's events. The weather was not ideal! Cold, a little rainy at times. The ocean temp was freezing. These athletes had to brave adverse conditions to compete in this World Title & Olympic Qualifying event.

2008 Elite Men's Triathlon World Championships

An amazing display of athleticism! This was a truly Wold-Class event that happened in English Bay, Stanley Park, & the West End of Vancouver. Here you will find pictures of the Vancouver 2008 Elite Men's Triathlon World Championships. We have great pictures from every event and some amazing pictures of the gold metal winner Javier Comez of Spain.

2008 Elite Women's Triathlon World Championships

The 2008 Elite Women's Triathlon World Championships race occurred earlier in the day then the Elite Men's race and had the colder weather to add extra challenge. The competition in the Elite Women's even seemed to be closer than the mens with the file stretch of the race being hotly contested by both Helen Tucker of Great Britain and Sarah Haskins of the USA. It would be Helen Tucker who would take the Women's Gold!

2008 Under 23 Men's Triathlon World Championships

With worse weather than either the Elite Men's or Women's races these under 23's had to have the race of their lives! It was truly amazing to see these young male athletes compete for their chance at World Gold. Certainly any of these young athletes has an Olympic future.

Unknown Race in the 2008 Triathlon World Championships

The 2008 Vancouver Triathlon World Championships was a multi day event with many races and groups of participants. These are pictures from one of the events, however we did not catch what even it was. It is a mixed event.

Of special note is a photo of a man competing in this race. He has one leg and is racing an un-modified bike. This was something I found to be among the most astonishing of any of the other races. With a single leg he is pushing and pulling, powering the peddle of his bike. This was the most amazing display of true athleticism I saw in any of the races. Somehow I doubt I would make it around the block trying to power my bike using just one leg.
