Over two million people annually visit Whistler British Columbia, primarily for its world-famous snow skiing. Named for the call of the marmot indigenous to the region, Whistler will be the co-host (alongside Vancouver) of the XXI Winter Olympic Games, which will take place at the Whistler-Blackcomb Resort.

A "hydrogen highway" is planned to link the two cities by 2010, allowing environmentally friendly hydrogen powered vehicles to travel freely between them. There will be seven hydrogen fueling stations in Vancouver and Whistler; see more details.
