“the Man” in Stanley Park
Posted by admin | Filed under Stanley Park

I don’t know much (if anything) about this carved tree in Stanley Park. It’s located just off the trails from the entrance to the park off Second Beach. This photo has GPS data in the tag so if you have a GPS just follow the numbers….. Sorry for the quality of the pic! It’s from my iPhone. I love my iPhone for many reasons but the camera is not one of them. The cameras on the iPhone suck! It’s one of the only things about the iPhone to suck but it does it well. But thats enough about iPhone camera……
MomoG and I call this carved face “the Man”. We have visited him for years. It’s a fabulous carving and the setting is perfect. I never get tired of going to this spot in the park. On average we visit once a week, on the weekends. We have no idea how old he is, where he came from, who did this? Was it a spontaneous act or did the Vancouver Parks Board commission him? Why do this? Was it just for public enjoyment or does he represent something?
Anyone with information or insight into this little guy please comment to this posting. I am going to do some digging around to see what I can discover. I’m sure the Vancouver Parks Board.

I am looking for my copy of the photo and get the GPS info for those who have asked. Baring that I will go get them again.. It is very easy to access as it is just off a major trail and is even visible from the trail if you are looking in the right place. More to follow…..
